Getting started with Postrider

Send your first request, use variables, and save your work to GitHub in a few minutes.

1. Send a request

  1. Open the workspace.
  2. Pick a method, enter a URL such as https://api.github.com/users/octocat, and press Send or Ctrl/Cmd+Enter.
  3. Read the status, time, size, headers and body in the response panel.

2. Use environment variables

Create an environment, add a variable such as base_url, then write {{base_url}}/users in the URL. Variables also work in headers and bodies. Built-ins like $uuid and $timestamp need no setup.

3. Save to GitHub

  1. Sign in with GitHub, or paste a personal access token in the GitHub settings.
  2. Choose or create a repository and branch for your project.
  3. Save a request with Ctrl/Cmd+S. It is committed as a JSON file you can review like any other change.
